Date: 17 June 2015

The National Competitiveness Council are today publishing the first in a series of Competitiveness Bulletins focusing on specific topics of concern to the Council. The first Bulletin (15-1) addresses the impact that high electricity prices are having on Ireland's international competitiveness.

The urgent challenge facing Ireland is to reduce energy costs while delivering on our security of supply and environmental sustainability objectives. Above average electricity prices are damaging Ireland’s competitiveness. The new Energy White Paper must re-balance Ireland’s energy policy to prioritise cost competitiveness.
